“Orchid Suibokuga” is a classic Suibokuga, which is a combination of Japanese ink painting and the small amount of color you find in flowers.
Note the characteristic Sumi-e tonal transitions on the flower petals, which I achieved in one brushstroke. This is a feature that distinguishes Sumi-e from traditional watercolor. Similarly, I painted the leaves, on which you will notice an ink effect that gives the impression of three-dimensionality. This is also a feature of Sumi-e that you won’t find in “ordinary” ink lavage graphics.
Orchid, a classic motif, an element of the Shikunshi (four seasons), a Japanese symbol of spring and noble character, purity and elegance. Prized for its particularly beautiful fragrance.
Sumi-e or Japanese ink painting is an ancient painting technique deeply rooted in Zen philosophy. The spirituality of this art form implies that only by turning inward can you see what is outside. Stop the day and space to look into yourself while painting.
The subject of the sale is an unframed artwork made on backed rice paper. Fully prepared for framing. Packaged so elegantly that you can give it as a gift.
